Demons outside the maelstrom.

Today I am going to post some pictures and the procedure I have gone through painting a demon army.

First of all I dilslike demons I think they are underpriced for what they do. In 7th edition they were just wrong, playing with +14 power dice a turn.
Breaking units in a round of combat cause of fear. The only drawback in demons was that you had to decide if you wanted a deamon that had 7 str 8 attacks with hatred magic resistans and +3 armor save terror flying or a flying demon wizard that knew 2 hole lores of magic. Sick. At one GT final there were 7 demon armies in the top 10 (the others were chaos with gateway, dwarfs with special anvil and a dark elf list) those were the days were demon players played 6 games vs other demons.

So at this point I tell you that I am painting demons and will be using them in the fantasy doubles tournament in their worst form with Skulltaker and masque. I bet you are thinking now that I am a F*(&^%ing hipocrite, but let me explain.
1) I think the demons are the best army to airbrush and to paint quick, so I wanted to try my airbrush antd put my theory to practice.
2) Demons are the only army that can play fantasy and 40k if you make them on interchangable bases, but I have not seen it yet in an army that way.
3) Two friends of mine were selling their demons miniatures quite cheap so I bought them having (1) and (2) in mind and I want to resell the army painted hopping to make some kind of profit. I also got some demons as payment for painting some space wolfs. Thanks Tzortz!
4) I needed a bad army for fantasy doubles. I would have liked to do beastmen but having the demons on the go it would be silly starting another army.
Now if you can find it in your heart and mind to justify me we can continue.

So after the 2 purchases I had:
PLastic Demon prince
Masque
Skulltaker
30 horrors
25 bloodletters
6 screamers
4 flammers
6 bloodcrushers
Army case

The idea of making the models play in both systems: All troops go in round bases and for fantasy they go into a movement tray with holes. Every thing else goes onto a rock that will have magnets that will snap to the square or round base.

I will comment bellow the pictures.
First I assembled the models to have a rough idea of the army and points.

Then I started working on the Horros/16 hours total

At this point it was last Thursday 12 of May I realised that i have 9 days to paint my 1000p list which was made from models I had.

19 bloodletters
Skulltaker
Masque
6 screamers
and 6 flammers

The flammers were already done and I will use 2 from a friend of mine (I dont want mone flammers in the army because 4 flammers and 4 bloodcrushers are just under 500p in a 2000p army).

  2. Nice work on the airbrush - going to start practicing this weekend myself.

I am assuming that WIP time is cumulative - and not per unit as 24.5 hours on a unit is not fast! lol
